Geruchten over RIM Tablet PC bevestigd.

dinsdag 13 juli 2010 — We lieten op 16 juni al weten dat Blackberry een Tablet aan het ontwikkelen is. Afgelopen vrijdag zijn een aantal specificaties bekend geworden die vandaag nog zijn bevestigd. Het gaat hier nog steeds om geruchten Research In Motion heeft nog niets officieel bevestigd.

Specificaties van de RIM Tablet is door tweede bron bevestigd.

Afgelopen vrijdag heeft analist Ashok Kumar een aantal specificaties van de nieuwe Tablet van RIM bekend gemaakt. Kumar werkt bij Rodman & Renshaw. Deze specificaties zijn nu bevestigd door Betanews die een goed geïnformeerde bron binnen RIM heeft.

De Tablet heeft een Marvell processor van 1 GHZ. Dit zou de Armada 610 processor kunnen zijn. Deze processor is in staat om 1080p HD video’s af te spelen en geavanceerde 3D graphics.

De Tablet krijgt een 7 inch scherm en een camera aan zowel de voorkant als achterkant. Deze twee camera’s maken Video Conferencing mogelijk, iets dat de iPad ontbeert. Dit maakt de Tablet zeer geschikt voor bedrijven.

Daarnaast heeft de bron van Betanews aangegeven dat de Tablet van RIM in tegenstelling tot de iPad wel Adobe Flash ondersteunt. De tablet krijgt daarvoor een Flash hardware versneller. Dit gerucht zou zeker waar kunnen zijn want onlangs maakte Adobe bekend dat Blackberry OS in de tweede helft van dit jaar Flash 10.1 krijgt.

Ondanks eerdere berichten dat de Tablet begin 2011 op de markt komt, is dit volgens Ashok Kumar nog dit jaar. De bron van Betanews kan dit echter niet bevestigen.

Kan RIM’s tablet de concurrentie met Apple’s iPAd aan?

De vraag is of deze Tablet van RIM de concurrentie met de iPad aan kan. Hoewel Blackberry binnen de mobile markt een groter aandeel heeft dan Apple is de Tablet markt andere koek. Dus we zijn benieuwd of RIM de strijd met de iPad kan winnen.

Een ding is zeker. We gaan een spannende periode tegemoet op Tablet gebied want de eerste Android Tablets  worden ook dit jaar verwacht. Hoe meer concurrentie hoe beter wat ons betreft.
